HIERARCHY

REMUNERATION PACKAGE
- Performance related, as per the company rules and the Executive Search Agency guidance, depending on the candidate’s capabilities and achievements

THE ROLE
- The role entails the acquisition of new business for the company, retaining and expanding existing accounts, managing the company road freight products and services, actively contributing to sustainable business development and developing capable & professional team

THE SCOPE
- To ensure constant growth of market share in groupage, FTL & LTL (parcel & express to be added in 2011)
- To optimise and drive up the profit of all products and services within his/her area of responsibility
- To work with customers and product managers in driving innovation & market leadership
- To identify, evaluate, and implement new business initiatives
- To participate in the strategic development of the road products & services in compliance with the company guidelines and targets

FORMAL AUTHORITIES
- To act within the guidelines, annual operating plans (AOPs) and budgets approved by the management
- To negotiate rates, terms and conditions with the local or regional offices of road carriers and/or other service providers in order to improve service portfolio or competitiveness of the company in the road business domain
- To take decisions regarding price discounts and time of execution within agreed financial limits
- To seek internal information needed for fulfilling his/her duties – reporting, analysis, forecasting, cost improvement policy, etc.
- To propose and implement tools and instruments for achieving operational excellence and high quality of services provided
- To initiate development and implementation of training & educational programmes for the staff, facilitate knowledge transfer and ensure CPD
- To propose members of his/her team for re-appointments, promotions, labor agreement terminations, sanctions, bonuses and other benefits entitlement

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
- Participating in strategy and business development & implementation as well as in growth planning process on local and regional basis
- Managing concept, product and service development
- Ensuring competitiveness of road products and services, leading positions on the market and customer satisfaction
- Implementing profit optimisation and cost efficiency
- Ensuring development, update and implementation of SOPs between related agents and partners
- Managing personnel duties and tasks
- Monitoring of competition locally and regionally and providing relevant market information and analyses for the purposes of benchmarking and products and services evaluation
- Promoting road products and services in joint visits with sales manager
- Coordinating maintenance and development of the key accounts with the sales force
- Reporting department initiatives, results, achievements and failures to the management
- Controlling data input & timely reporting/data entry into company information systems
- Managing timely collection of AR, settlement of AP and maintaining overall responsibility for the “order to cash” cycle of road customers and partners

ACCOUNTABILITIES
- The position will be measured against:
- Measured against the agreed AOP, budget and KPIs
- Sales revenue and profit development
- Growth, innovation and leadership

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Master degree in business, marketing or economics
- Minimum 3 years of professional experience; thereof 1 year minimum as Department Manager
- Excellent knowledge in the assigned area – processes, local legislation, quality standards (ISO/EFQM), marketplace – customers, service providers, competitors
- Incoterms; CMR convention, International Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Road (ADR) European agreement, TIR convention
- International experience and extensive knowledge of the logistics industry is an advantage; special focus to be given to candidates with solid experience in groupage
- Very good command of the English language (spoken and written) /German is an advantage/
- Very good computer literacy – MS Office (with emphasis on MS Word, Excel, Power point), MS Outlook, Internet technology-savvy;
- Driving license
